Recovery of citizen from El Dorado National Forest

EDSAR cliff team was asked to assist the El Dorado Sheriff's Department in recovering a deceased man, who apparently fell to his death from a cliff. The team met deputies at 500am and proceeded to the North South Road area. A steep trail lead the team to a picturesque granite, dome, creek and steep canyon, topped by evergreen forest at 5200 feet.
The team lowered a rescuer with a litter down the deceased subject, who was being examined by deputies. A 9:1 rope system was used to haul the rescuer and subject back up the cliff for a carryout to a forest service road.
The circumstances surrounding the death of the subject remain under investigation.
