RP placed a cell call that subject was missing from day hike. Members from Tahoe SAR initiated teams Saturday night for an overnight. West Slope members showed up early in the morning. H-24 was involved with flyovers. Subject was found early afternoon on 10-10-10.
SAR management personnel (small #) managed multiple teams with the new and emerging CIMMS search information system, tracking teams, clues, radio logs, clues, tracks and disposition.

A classic search that could have come right out of the textbook. SAR teams reported that many weekend hikers were aware of the search, thanks to Management's efforts to get the word out. Ultimately, the subject was "found" by one such family and turned over to a SAR team in the area. He was uninjured and happy to be returned to civilization.
South Lake Tahoe PD loaned us their communications van and I got to run it (nerd toy closet). For future reference, the radio setup is not much different from our own comm van. The radios are similar to ours, and though the console looks different all the same functions are there. Their on-board generator is diesel instead of propane but starts the same way.
And finally, here's a new addition to the SAR dictionary...
Bug Station: The agricultural inspection station on Highway 50 in Meyers, as in "The Getaway Cafe is just east of the bug station."
