EDSO received a missing persons call, after a visitor to the resort did not return after leaving with his dog at 700pm. The reporting party, the subject's wife, stated that he appeared inebriated when he left.
Patrol deputies searched the area in the wee hours. Dep. Schaub. enlisted the help from 3 OHV members at 200am to run the roads.
At 430am a general callout was broadcast. Members from all teams arrived between 500-700am. OHV team found dog prints. A dog team followed a scent trail that may have traced the subject's course.
After 800am, the missing subject phone his wife from a payphone on Pony Express Trail. D500 located him and he was returned (with dog) to the area, after medics assessment.
This is a venue for El Dorado SAR members to provide fill-in information and first-hand accounts of specific previous searches. After SAR302 posts the first item about a recent search, any SAR member is invited to add their comments/observations/feelings/experience as it relates to said search. Missing subject stated he "followed his black labrador Molly". They slept overnight in some brush, (she kept him warm). Molly returned apparently without a scratch , the missing person on the otherhand appeared a little worse for the brush scrambling. He stated he kept trying to head up hill so he could get his bearings, stumbled upon a road followed it to a gate that said " no snow plowing" and turned back but stayed on the road. He passed a few homes but felt it was too early to wake anyone up and kept going until he reached a small store from which he called his wife.
The response was good. The teams worked well together. The campground area was intensely covered by assignments.
Does anyone have the distance from LKP to call in location? Good for our stats. Also useful might be temp, humidity, no moon.
