West Slope EDSAR got an automated notice today at 700am requesting winter searchers (Nordic) and Management to assist the Tahoe team. A man on a snowmobile ran out of gas in the Grass Lake area off of Hwy 89 just outside Meyers the PM before. He managed to get a cell phone call out and then hunkered down for the night.
As west slope members were deploying, Tahoe team members located and assisted the subject.
This is a venue for El Dorado SAR members to provide fill-in information and first-hand accounts of specific previous searches. After SAR302 posts the first item about a recent search, any SAR member is invited to add their comments/observations/feelings/experience as it relates to said search. The postings are then edited and posted to the ESARC website (edsar.org) for public viewing.

Snowmobiler stranded overnight found safe
STAFF REPORT,
A man who was stranded overnight near Armstrong Pass after his snowmobile ran out of gas Tuesday afternoon was brought to safety early this morning.
The man got separated from the friends, ran out of gas and was unable to get out of the Freel Meadows area, said El Dorado County Sheriff's Deputy Greg Almos.
Search and rescue coordinators were able to get a hold of the man via cell phone Tuesday night, and he confirmed he was uninjured, Almos said.
Search and rescue volunteers did not immediately begin a rescue effort Tuesday night due to high winds, snowfall and poor visibility.
Nordic and snowmobile search and rescue teams from El Dorado County, Placer County and Alpine County began a search at daybreak Wednesday, but the man's friends had returned and located the stranded man about 8:15 a.m. this morning, said Sheriff's Deputy Mike Sukua.
