That Monday morning was marked a huge snowfall, reaching to the western borders of El Dorado County- up to 2 inches in El Dorado Hills, 6-8 inches in Shingle Springs, reports of up to a foot in Placerville and more further up the hill. As a result, a large number of trees and limbs contributed to massive power outages in Placerville and many outlying areas. With the power outages came loss of phone service, cell site failures, and lack of vehicle access to and from many residences.
EDSO OES set up the Emergency Operations Center on Monday, staffed by OES deputies and some SAR volunteers. Members of EDSAR OHV teams and others assisted in reaching and transporting the elderly and infirm, without heat and infrastructure. These citizens were either handed over to friends and family members for care or transported to "warming centers" set up by El Dorado County.
This is a venue for El Dorado SAR members to provide fill-in information and first-hand accounts of specific previous searches. After SAR302 posts the first item about a recent search, any SAR member is invited to add their comments/observations/feelings/experience as it relates to said search. The postings are then edited and posted to the ESARC website (edsar.org) for public viewing.

what a wild storm this was! We pulled 1 person out of a ditch. Cleared a drive way of a tree blocking it. Then to cap it off we did a hairy transport from South County off Sand Ridge through 12 inches of snow to Cameron park. Thanks to everyone who helped out.
The EOC was a very interesting experience. I never really saw the ICS system used on such a large scale operation, but I now see the importance of it. I'm glad that I was able to be there on Monday to help set up - it seemed like it must have been rough for the deputies to secure all of the resources used throughout the incident. However, I visited on Thursday as things were winding down, and was beyond impressed with what they have accomplished. Great job to everybody who took part in the emergency operation center.
